The Detroit Sports Commission has announced the game matchups for the 2026 Amazon Prep Kickoff Classic, and the slate is loaded with our best high school football! The APKC lands August 27-28 at Tom Adams Field on the campus of Wayne State University in Midtown Detroit, right where it belongs. Thursday, Aug. 27 opens with Chippewa Valley battling Detroit Catholic Central at 4 p.m., followed by Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills vs. Dewitt at 7 p.m. Then Friday, Aug. 28 brings Birmingham Groves vs. North Farmington at 4 p.m. and the nightcap the whole state is circling: Detroit Cass Tech vs. Michigan City at 7 p.m. That last one carries some serious weight — DCC and Cass Tech battled for last year's Division I state championship, with DCC finishing No. 69 and CT No. 89 in the High School Football America 300 national rankings. Four marquee games, teams from southeast and western Michigan plus Indiana's own Michigan City, and a Girls' Flag Football Showcase returning for its third year. This is a can't-miss slate for us.
