Week 5 Brings the Heavyweights: Undefeateds Collide Across Michigan

Friday night in Michigan is where the pretenders get sorted from the contenders, and Week 5 stacks the card with unbeaten-versus-unbeaten showdowns from the Thumb to the U.P. Millington (4-0) rolls into Cass City (4-0) for a Big Thumb Conference White title rematch — the two shared the crown a year ago, and Cass City already handled the Cardinals in overtime 17-14 last time these teams met. Down in Detroit, the city rivalry we circle every year returns as Martin Luther King (4-0) visits Cass Tech (4-0). Cass Tech has taken the last three meetings, owns three shutouts in four games, and is pouring in 52 points a night. King answered its own way, edging Orchard Lake St. Mary's 44-42 back in Week 2. Don't sleep on the little schools either: Portland's Raiders carry a 30-game league win streak into Lake Odessa Lakewood (4-0), while Bark River-Harris and Pewamo-Westphalia meet on a neutral field in Petoskey — two Semifinalists from a year ago squaring off after both lost their scheduled foes.
