We've passed the midway point of the 2026 season, and Friday night gave us a Michigan high school slate worth every minute. Portland's 30-game winning streak in the Capital Area Activities Conference White rested on the leg of Chase Fullet, who drilled a 25-yard field goal with a second left to down Lake Odessa Lakewood 23-20 — streak now 31 straight, Mariners at 5-0. Down in Kalamazoo country, Vicksburg edged Three Rivers 26-21 behind Ja'Kobi Reed's fourth-quarter go-ahead score, the fourth meeting in three seasons decided by a handful of points. The Motor City delivered the headliner: Detroit Cass Tech took down Martin Luther King 20-7, Julian Taylor running for two touchdowns and the Technicians stretching their streak over the Crusaders to four while sitting 5-0. And how about Shepherd? A team that lost to Ogemaw Heights by 42 and 35 the last two years flipped the script with a 14-12 win, chasing its first playoff berth since 2022.
