The news is in, and it's the good kind: Jahmyr Gibbs has agreed to a three-year, $67.5 million extension, and it makes him the highest-paid running back in the entire history of this league. Agent Todd France announced it Thursday on Instagram, and the numbers back up every bit of it — $51.5 million guaranteed, an average of $22.5 million a year, and up to $75.75 million in all, topping Bijan Robinson's deal in Atlanta by a whisker. Here's the part that tells you exactly what we're paying for: 49 career touchdowns through three seasons, the most in NFL history for anyone that early, past even the great Barry Sanders and his 47. Gibbs is 24, drafted No. 12 back in 2023, a Pro Bowler all three years, and last season he racked up 1,839 yards from scrimmage with 18 total scores. With Montgomery shipped to Houston and Isiah Pacheco in the fold, this is now Gibbs' backfield, and Detroit paid him like they know it. Whatever it takes to keep this offense humming, the front office got it done.
