Larkin Answers the Boos as Red Wings Down the Senators 5-3

Well, here's a storyline you don't script. Dylan Larkin took the ice at Little Caesars Arena on Tuesday night, booed by our own home crowd the moment he touched the puck on his first shift — this his first game since asking for a trade and being stripped of the captaincy — and what did our guy do? He buried one in the 13th minute to give us a lead we never gave back, then set up another early in the second. Alex DeBrincat was the real hammer, scoring twice — a wrist shot 3:16 into the first off feeds from Nate Danielson and Carter Mazur, then a power-play empty-netter with 50 seconds left. Justin Faulk and Viktor Arvidsson chipped in, John Gibson stopped 22, and we handed Ottawa its first loss after the Senators had won their first two. At 17,583 strong, Detroit saw off a feisty Ottawa club. Batherson, Stutzle and Eklund answered, but Samuel Ersson's 31 saves weren't enough. We host Seattle on Friday.
