Rough news out of Allen Park this week, Lions faithful, as our new center Cade Mays fractured a small bone in his wrist during a recent training camp practice — and per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, that's expected to sideline him roughly eight to ten weeks. Dan Campbell called it a significant period of time, though he cracked that Mays will be ready for the playoffs. That stings, because Mays was one of our prized offseason grabs, an unrestricted free agent we targeted after his first four seasons with the Carolina Panthers, a sixth-round pick out of Tennessee back in 2022 who allowed just one sack last season and posted a 94.3% pass block win rate. Without him we're expected to work Scruggs, Seth McLaughlin, and Michael Niese at the pivot. And there's more banged-up news, as running back Isiah Pacheco battles an MCL sprain — though Campbell says he's not concerned and expects him back before our Week 1 home opener against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 13. Depth gets tested now.
