Camp is alive in Allen Park, and our Lions are giving us plenty to chew on! Jahmyr Gibbs signed a record three-year extension on Thursday, making him the highest-paid running back in NFL history — Detroit is paying its stars, and paying them right. Gibbs was back on the field for a second straight day, though he sat out full team drills, so we watch and we wait. Meanwhile Amon-Ra St. Brown reminded everybody why we love him, scoring on a goal-line slant, adding a two-point conversion, and converting multiple fourth downs in Friday's scrimmage — his chemistry with Jared Goff, built on friendship per coach Scottie Montgomery, is the real thing. Goff and most starters will sit the preseason opener against the Bengals, with Dan Campbell floating some action against Washington on Aug. 22, and undrafted rookie Luke Altmyer taking heavy snaps Thursday as QB2. Detroit also brought in ex-All Pro Devin White and DT Ben Stille, per Adam Schefter. Preseason kicks off Aug. 13 on NFL Network and ESPN.
