Lions Name Adrian's Own Richard Haddad Team President and CEO

Big news out of Ford Field, and it comes with a hometown flavor: our Lions have named Richard Haddad the new team president and CEO! Haddad is a native of Adrian, Michigan, and he's set to join the organization in early September to replace Rod Wood, who announced his retirement back in February ahead of the 2026 season. Wood isn't walking out the door cold — he'll remain in place to help guide Haddad and the organization through the transition, and that continuity matters as much as anything. Haddad arrives after a 14-year tenure with Pistons Sports & Entertainment, where he currently serves as chief operating officer, and his résumé reads like a builder's — he helped the Pistons move back from Auburn Hills to Detroit, helped open the Henry Ford Detroit Pistons Performance Center, and helped bring a WNBA team back to Detroit with a headquarters on the riverfront. Working closely with owner Sheila Hamp, he'll assume oversight of all football and business operations and set the vision for the future of both the Lions and Ford Field. A Michigan guy running a Michigan franchise.
