Lions Roll Cardinals 45-21, Head to the Bye at 3-2

What a way to walk into the bye week. Our Lions put up 45 on the Arizona Cardinals at Ford Field, climbing to 3-2 on the back of a Jared Goff clinic — 19-of-30 for 271 yards, three touchdowns, and a fourth-and-goal quarterback sneak that he punched in himself. Goff has thrown 12 touchdowns and zero interceptions through five games, joining Russell Wilson as the only players in league history to open a season like that. And the defense? We lead the NFL with 20 sacks, and for the first time in team history four different players — Wonnum, Hutchinson, McNeill and Barnes — have each logged at least 3.0 sacks through five games. Nine different defenders have gotten a piece. Detroit averages a league-best 32.8 points per game, and now the schedule gets real: two critical division games coming out of the bye, Green Bay in Week 7 and Minnesota hosting at Ford Field in Week 8. Brian Flores brings the top-ranked defense to town, allowing just 12.8 points a night. That is the measuring stick.
