The remaking of our Detroit Pistons is officially underway, and the fingerprints are everywhere as training camp opened Tuesday at the Henry Ford Pistons Performance Center. This is a new-look group — Tobias Harris, Isaiah Stewart, and Marcus Sasser are gone, with John Collins, Isaiah Joe, and Taurean Prince brought in, three men who each shot 40.0% or better from deep for their respective teams last season. Why the facelift? Look at the drop-off. We finished with the ninth-best offensive rating and a 117.3 net rating in the regular season, averaging 117.8 points a night. Then the playoffs came, Cleveland sent us home in the second round, and the offense cratered: 110.4 offensive rating, 104.9 points per game, just 35.9% from three over 14 games. Trajan Langdon's answer is spacing and shooting. Cade Cunningham even ran a player-led minicamp out in Southern California this summer — nearly the whole roster showed up, with Jalen Duren the lone absence amid his contract dispute. A 19-man camp roster now gets to work.
