Tigers Injury Report: Riley Greene, Jack Flaherty Working Back as September Nears

The medical ward is crowded down at Comerica, and we've got a lot to keep tabs on as the calendar turns toward September. Riley Greene, our left fielder, hit the 10-day IL Aug. 12 with a right hamstring strain, and he's grinding through a running, hitting and defense progression down in Lakeland, Fla. — the word is he'll need longer than the minimum, targeting late August into early September. Jack Flaherty, out since July 21 with right flexor inflammation, could begin throwing off a mound this weekend in Kansas City, with a possible September return. Matt Vierling is completing his own progression in Lakeland, eyeing late August. Kerry Carpenter is the worry: his rehab paused after a setback in running drills, and his foot is partially immobilized. The transaction wire kept spinning too, with Tanner Rainey selected from Toledo Aug. 11 and Corey Julks up the next day. Meanwhile River Ryan, the No. 4 prospect we landed in the Skubal deal, is airing out upper-90s fastballs in his bullpen work. Get healthy, boys. We need every arm and bat for the stretch run.
